This is an original 1930 tipped-in halftone print of an etching of "Basilica of the Madeleine, Vezelay."

A native of Washington, D. C., graphic artist John Taylor Arms studied law at Princeton University. He later transferred to the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) of Boston to study architecture. Thereafter, he served in the United States Navy during World War I. Post World War I, Arms focused his efforts on sketching full time. His works have been represented in museums in Brooklyn, Los Angeles, New Orleans, Cleveland, Toledo, San Diego, France, London, New York, Toronto, Chicago and more. He was also awarded with honors from the Brooklyn Society of Etchers, the Print Makers Society of California, the Salmagundi Club and the National Arts Club. Arms was a member of the Etchers' Societies and Clubs of Brooklyn, Chicago, Cleveland, Philadelphia, California, Royal Canadian, the Print Society of England, Grolier, Bibliophile, the American Institute of Architects, Baltimore Water Color, Washington Water Color, the American Artists' Professional League and the Societe des Beaux Arts.
