This is an original 1932 halftone print of the interior of the Bowery Savings Bank of New York City. Currently the bank is a part of Capital One Bank. The caption writes, "This is the head office of the Bowery Savings Bank, founded 97 years ago at No. 130 on the old, notorious Bowery of New York. Today the bank's deposits are almost equally divided between its old office on the original site and the Byzantine basilica, reared only nine years ago in East Forty-second Street."

The bank was opened in 1834, and in 1980, had over 35 branches around New York City. The bank was sold to Richard Ravitch, and then to H. F. Ahmanson & Company. The name was changed to the Home Savings of America, and then sold to the Greenpoint Savings Bank. Greenpoint Savings Bank was then sold to North Fork Bank, and then finally sold to Capital One Bank.
