This is an original 1934 halftone print of the fountain of the Place des Jacobins in Lyon, France. The fountain was originally created by Andre Gaspard and contains a small temple with four statues of famous men from Lyon. They are Gerard Audran, William Coustou, Hyppolite Flandrian, and Philbert Delorme. There are also three muses on the bottom of the fountain. What a nice spot to take a cool dip on a hot day!

Period Paper has obtained this exclusive collection of rare halftone prints from a journey taken by Philip Gibbs, who traveled through Switzerland, France, Hungary, Austria, Italy and the Saar during the spring and summer months of 1934. The illustrations were crafted by E. Lander, who portrayed scenes in Moret, Vezelay, Paris, Sens, Stuttgart, Avallon and others. Additional illustrations included that of a labor camp in Munich, cityscapes, churches and cathedrals, as well as scenes of the rise of the malicious German military prior to the onset of World War II.
