This is an original 1934 color print of the San Marco Square (Piazza San Marco) in Venice, Italy. The caption writes, "You can get an excellent idea of modern Venice from the paintings of an eighteenth-century master, because the old Venetian families have seen to it that Venice is unchanged by the centuries. If you so much as wish to paint your house a new color, you must discuss the matter with a committee..." Piazza San Marco is largely dominated by the church of St. Mark, which can be seen in the right of this image.
