1934 Print Portrait Milton Snavely Hershey Czermanski Chocolate Corporation FZ3

This is an original 1934 halftone print portrait of Milton Snavely Hershey, the founder of the Hershey Chocolate Company. Hershey originally established the Lancaster Caramel Company, but became interested in the chocolate making machinery he saw exhibited at the 1893 World's Columbian Exposition in Chicago, Illinois. Hershey purchased the equipment for his company and soon began formulating his own chocolate.

Czermanski was born in Krakow, Poland, and traveled to both France and Brazil before living in the United States. He is known for his caricatures and satirical pieces. Czermanski worked with a combination of watercolor, tempera, graphite, and colored pencil. He was well received in the United States and often published in Fortune Magazine.
