This is an original 1935 halftone print of Sir Francis Drake's ship, "Golden Hind." Originally named "Pelican," the galleon was used to circumnavigate the globe between 1577 and 1580. In addition to its lateen rigging on the mizzenmast, it also has a small water-sail and beakhead under the bowsprit. Galleons developed from carracks, hence the lowering of the forecastle.
