This is an original 1936 halftone print featuring an illustration of the Pine Lake Pioneers. The New Upsala, often referred to as the Pine Lake Settlement, was an early pioneer Swedish-American community in Wisconsin.
Gustaf Unonius founded the Nya Upsala, a short-live settlement of Swedish immigrants located in the north central section of Waukesha County, Wisconsin. Gustaf Unonius was a pioneer and priest in the American Midwest.
