This is an original 1936 halftone print of girls at a boarding school in a textile mill in Japan. Seen is the lunch hall at the Kanegafuchi factory, which we are assuming is located in Tokyo. Japanese farmer's daughters would usually come to boarding schools like this at the age of twelve or thirteen, and could eat lunch for 4 and a half cents.
