1936 Print New York Fur Workers Maronin Sons Navarr Merchant Clothing Coats FZ2

This is an original 1936 halftone print of a group of New Yorkers outside of Maronin & Sons Fur Merchants in the fur district between Seventh Avenue and Twenty-Fourth and Thirty-First Streets. The caption writes, "Every noon: a group of New York's 10,000 fur workers, relaxing." Photography by Fenno Jacobs.

Charles Fenno Jacobs (1904-1974) was born in Waltham, Massachusetts. He had a recognized reputation as a photographer by 1941, and worked for Life Magazine as well as Fortune. He is known for the images he took during World War II as a part of Edward Steichen's Naval Aviation Photographic Unit.

Please note that there is print on the reverse. Also note that the black frame surrounding the image is not centered. It is not off by much, but it can be seen in the digital copy.
