This is an original 1937 halftone print of women working at Cluett Peabody and Company. The caption writes, "Cluett, Peabody is the largest maker of the $1 tie and in the busy seasons (before Christmas and Easter) may have as many slip stitchers working at home as are regularly employed in its factor (125)..." Cluett Peabody & Company is famous for its Arrow Collar Man advertisements-- the name of the male character who advertised their clothing. The Arrow Collar Man, brainchild of J. C. Leyendecker's, was famous in the 1920s, and often received fan mail and love letters.
