This is an original 1937 halftone print of a Japanese family standing outside of their traditional farmhouse in Japan. These people grow rice which is a very important food supply in Japan. There is not a lot of farmland in Japan so rice paddy fields occupy much of the available countryside. Photography courtesy of Ewing Galloway.
