This is an original 1937 halftone print of women packing Canada Dry soft drinks in Manhattan, New York. The caption writes, "Hand packing in Manhattan: the high carbonation sometimes causes an explosion, hence the girls wear goggles. This step requires more handwork than any other on an entire Canada Dry bottling line. A third of the factory employees are girls but most of them just sit and watch..." Photography by Leigh Irwin.
Canada Dry Ginger Ale was created in 1904 by John McLaughlin of Enniskillen, Ontario, Canada. The brand name is currently owned by the Dr. Pepper Snapple Group.
