This is an original 1937 color print of the New York Crystal Palace on fire in 1858. The building was constructed for the 1853 Exhibition of the Industry of All Nations in New York City. The palace lit on fire after a lumber room started on fire, and in fifteen minutes, the dome had fallen and in less than a half hour, the entire building had burned down to the ground.
