"The Phantom."

This is an original 1937 rotogravure print of a dramatically lighted portrait. Photographer: Robert L. McFerran. Camera: Rebuilt Eastman with Rapid rectilinear lens. Exposure: 1/10 sec. at f 11. Film: Agfa Plenachrome. In order to achieve this effect the model was floodlighted from the floor with one Photoflood light reflector. The model was posed to lean slightly over the light thus permitting only the facial highlights to be reflected. The film was intentionally slightly under-exposed to produce the effect of extreme dramatic lighting.
