This is an original 1937 halftone print of the streets of Mason City, Iowa. The caption writes, "The lights and crowds and well-stocked stores in places like Mason City (population 23,000) are reasons why trade has shifted away from rural villages. WIth mile-a-minute automobiles and roads, the farm family is no longer isolated and may drive across several counties to do its buying." Photography by William Vandivert.
