The caption begins, "Tradition has it that this famous example of Piero di Cosimo's work (probably painted about 1495) was given by Lorenzo de' Medici to a lady of the Guiducci family..." Cosimo was an Italian Renaissance painter and was a student under Cosimo Rosseli.
