This is an original 1939 halftone print of the $225,000 (over $3.5 million today!) theatrical production by Kaufman and Hart The American Way, which detailed the life of married couple Fredric March and Florence Eldridge, who emigrated from Germany to Ellis Island seeking freedom. The couple settled in Ohio, initially prospered, but then suffered great tragedies, bringing an ironic twist to the plot. This print shows the play being performed at the Center Theater in Radio City.
