This is an original 1939 tipped-in color print of a portrait by Anthony van Dyck depicting Scottish and English monarch Charles I, with his adviser James Hamilton holding the horse behind him. Interestingly, this noble from the House of Stuart only paid the artist half of the requested amount for this portrait... No wonder he eventually ended up with his head on a chopping block in 1649.
