This is an original 1939 tipped-in color print of Dutch Golden Age painter Gerard ter Borch's The Letter
, depicting a prim and proper woman daintily completed a note. Much like Venetian painter Moroni, he enjoyed painting the middle class in Holland, which gave rise to many of his genre paintings.
