Albert Dorne
(1904-1965) Albert Dorne was born in New YorkÕs Lower East Side. At an early age Dorne had to go to work to support his family, but his dream of becoming an artist finally came true when he was in his twenties. He became one of the leading illustrators of the 30Õs and 40Õs with his work appearing in magazines such as Colliers, Life, The Saturday Evening Post, Look, and others. His interest in helping other aspiring artists led him to found the Famous Artists School in 1948Ña home study correspondence program that was very successful.
