This is an original 1940 color print of Zamboanga in the Philippines. The caption writes, "Zamboanga, like other cities in the islands, has its branch of the 'Archbishop's Bank,' which is the informal name for the Bank of the Philippine Islands, an economic subsidiary of the Catholic Church. The church has two lesser banks, chunks of Manila real estate, many agricultural holdings." Photography by Fenno Jacobs.

Charles Fenno Jacobs (1904-1974) was born in Waltham, Massachusetts. He had a recognized reputation as a photographer by 1941, and worked for Life Magazine as well as Fortune. He is known for the images he took during World War II as a part of Edward Steichen's Naval Aviation Photographic Unit.
