Gladys Rockmore Davis
Gladys Rockmore Davis (1901-1967) was an artist native to New York City, where she received her formal art education at the Art Students League of New York. Later, Rockmore studied at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. She was most known for her commercial art, illustrations, paintings, printmaking and graphic art design, as well as her realism style. Davis was also a LIFE Magazine featured artist. Her works had primarily centered on figures, genre, statues and sculptures, landscapes, nudes, portraits, and still life subjects. Her art has been exhibited at the National Academy of Design, the Art Institute of Chicago, the Frank Rehn Gallery of New York City, the Corcoran Gallery of Washington D. C., the Whitney Museum of American Art, the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts and the Society of Illustrators.
