This is an original 1945 black and white photogravure of a study of drapery on the left, and a study of a man's head on the right. These studies were done in silverpoint which is created by dragging a silver rod or wire across a surface. Raphael was a painter and architect of the High Renaissance period. His work is admired for its clarity of form and ease of composition and for its visual achievement of the Neoplatonic ideal of human grandeur.
