112816_CON1_017

This is an original 1945 halftone print of Conad's 40-person band. The caption writes, "CONAD's 40-piece band was widely known in France and Germany. Under the direction of Warrant Officer Gerardo Del Rio the band played at every CONAD ceremony as well as Sunday concerts for civilians and Allied troops in France."

"Conad History" (Continental Advance) was created to preserve the history of the United States Army supply forces, and to provide a basis for future studies by the United States War Department. The book covered the continental advance, communications zones, the European theater of operations, and the United States Army during 1944 and 1945. The Conad staff began in Africa and traveled to central Europe where they finished.
