This French painter and manuscript illuminator had such a passion for his work that he traveled to Italy in order to tangibly experience the early Italian Renaissance first-hand. He must have been a highly focused individual, the incredible detail of his illuminations and his love of the portrait miniature speak for themselves. Some of his best known works include the Melun Diptych and over forty portraits from the House of Etienne Chevalier.
