This is an original 1948 black and white French print ad for JAZ clocks, illustrated by RenŽ Gruau.
RenŽ Gruau (1909- 2004) French poster designer and fashion illustrator Rene Gruau was born in Italy and moved to France to begin his career in design. From 1935-1939 he collaborated with the French magazines ÒFeminaÓ, ÒMarie ClaireÓ, ÒLÕOfficielÓ, ÒElleÓ and ÒLÕAlbum de le Figaro.Ó In 1946 he began working for ÒInternational Textiles,Ó creating their magazine covers until 1984. Guau also created the advertising drawing for the perfume Miss Dior for close friend Christian Dior. In 1948 he went to work for ÒHarperÕs BazaarÓ and "Vogue" where he was known for his elegant haute couture illustrations.
