"Lead Kindly light. Inglewood Park Cemetery"

This is an original 1951 halftone print of an outdoor advertising billboard poster for the Inglewood Park Cemetery. Artist: Jim Armitage; Agency: Hixson & Jorgensen, Inc.; Art Director: Karl Sanders. This unique ad shows the appearance of this billboard during daylight and at night when it was illuminated with a black light. Please note that there is printing on the reverse.

Period Paper is pleased to offer a fascinating collection (both color and black and white) of the finest examples of billboard poster advertising art as judged by the 15th National Competition and Exhibit of Outdoor Advertising Art, sponsored by The Art Directors Club of Chicago in 1951. Although as "mini billboards" they are but a fraction of the size of the original, their powerful graphic designs combined with a succinct advertising message make them highly collectible pieces for the popular cultural historian, the poster art collector, or for the person simply interested in the nostalgic appeal of these images of cultural Americana. Each item is very well preserved and would look magnificent framed.
