This is an original 1952 black and white offset lithograph of the first "Fleurons" which was originally printed by Giovanni and Alberto Alvise in Verona, Italy in 1478. A "Fleuron" is a floral, typographic element, or glyph, used as ornament in books. The first book to use these was Arte de ben Morire which received uproar for its use of contemporary elements, which were thought to lead to the decay of the art of book printing.
