This is an original 1963 color print by Rafael Montes de Oca of two members of the Amazilia Cyanura family, known more commonly as the Blue Tailed Hummingbird. With an average length of 94 mm., the head and body are emerald, with a dark blue tail and bronze wing and rump area. The Blue Tailed Hummingbird is found in the Pacific slopes from Chiapas to central Costa Rica. The pictured orchid is known as Stanhopea devoniensis, more commonly known as Hernandez' Stanhoepa, and grows in the Mexican States of Hidalgo, Mexico, Oaxaca, Guerrero, Michoacan, and Jalisco. It flowers in the early part of the year.
