"Amazilia Candida"

This is an original 1963 color print by Rafael Montes de Oca of two Amazilia Candida, more commonly known as the White-Bellied Emerald Hummingbird. Found in humid tropical zones in eastern Mexico, and as far south as Costa Rica, the White Bellied Emerald has an average length of 81 mm. The belly and backside of these birds are bright white, with the lateral tail feathers featuring black sub terminal areas and gray tips. The beak is somewhat long, with a black top and pink bottom. The featured orchid is known as Spiranthes cinnabarina, which blooms in April and May.
