Beardsley, Aubrey

English illustrator Aubrey Beardsley (1872-1898) is best known for his beautiful illustrations. He was greatly influenced by Japanese woodcuts and the rising Art Nouveau style that was sweeping Europe during his short years, and somehow found time between bouts of chronic tuberculosis (which eventually killed him) to produce fascinating high contrast pieces while enjoying the company of other creative minds such as Oscar Wilde and James Whistler.
