Colt Firearms.

The ColtÕs Manufacturing Company produced firearms for domestic, foreign and military clientele. Samuel Colt in Hartford, Connecticut founded ColtÕs Patent Firearms Manufacturing Company in 1836. The company accelerated due to the high demand for arms during the Spanish-American War. The United States Mounted Rifles used the ÒWalker ColtÓ firearm in the Mexican-American War. One of the first repeating rifles manufactured was the Colt Revolver Rifle, which was used during the American Civil War. Another well-known gun was the Colt .45 revolver that is known as the Peacemaker or Single Action Army.

Although, the company declared bankruptcy in 1942, the Texas Rangers placed a large order for the ÒWalker ColtÓ revolver, which ended up reviving the company. In 2002, ColtÕs Manufacturing Company and Colt Defense split into two entities. Colt Defense serves the military, law enforcement agencies and private security markets throughout the world.
