Toulouse-Lautrec, Henri de

Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec (Nov. 24, 1864 Ð Sep. 9, 1901) was a French painter, printmaker, draughtsman and illustrator. He was one of the greatest artists in Post-Impressionism and drew inspiration from the colorful and theatrical life in Paris. He suffered from a series of health problems and couldnÕt partake in a lot of normal adult activities so he immersed himself in his art. His career only lasted twenty years but in that time he created over 6,500 pieces of work. He excelled at capturing people in their working environment and crowded scenes in a sympathetic and dispassionate manner.
